मत पीछे हटो

जब बातें बिगड़ने लगे जैसे कभी कभी होता है

चलती राह उपर की ओर चढ़ता दिखता हो

जब पूंजी कम हो और उधार बहुत अधिक

दिल को रोना पड़े, जब वो हँसना चाहता हो

जब चिंताए तुम्हें कमज़ोर करने लगे

कर लो आराम जरा, पर पीछे मत हटो l

जीवन अपने फेर बदल से चकित करती रहे

जिससे सीखता है, हम जैसे हर कोई 

कि असफलता से टकरा जाते हैं

जब लगे जीतते गर कोशिश की होती

मत हार मानो गर रफ़्तार धीमी लगे

अगली पहल शायद जीत दिला दे

क्योंकि लक्ष्य अक्सर करीब होता है

पर थकी आखों को बहुत दूर दिखे l

अक्सर योद्धा हार मान लेता है

जबकि वो हासिल कर ही लेता जीत

पर एहसास होता है देर रात होने के बाद

कितने पास था उसके विजयश्री

सफलता असफलता का ही दूसरा पक्ष है

मानो शंका के बादलों की चाँदनी धार

कभी नहीं कह सकते कितने करीब है

वो बहुत पास ही हो पर लगे उस पार

इसलिए जब चोट बड़ी लगे तो ऊँची उड़ान भरो

जब सबकुछ विपरीत लगे तो कभी हिम्मत मत हारो l 

Original English poem

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will

When the road you are trudging seems all uphill

When the funds  are low and the debts are high

And  you want to smile but you have to sigh.

When care is pressing you down a bit

Rest if you must , but don’t quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns

As everyone  of us , sometimes learns

And may a failure turns about

And he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow

You might succeed with another blow

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man.

                Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor’s cup

And he learned too late, when the night slipped down

How close he was to the Victor’s crown.

Success is failure, turned inside out

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt

And you can never tell how close you are

It may be near when it seems afar .

So stick to the flight when you are hardest hit

It’s when things seems worst, that you mustn’t Quit.
